Rising Row New York senior Shannon McCann’s rowing prowess has won her a spot on the 2013 USRowing Junior Worlds Development Team. This win follows Shannon’s selections last year for the USRowing Junior National Team’s summer and winter high performance camps.

The Junior Worlds Development Team enhances skills for athletes like Shannon that have demonstrated the ability to compete at a high level. The goal of this opportunity is to prepare rising rowing stars for international racing experience. Shannon and her teammates will train in Berlin, Germany and will have the opportunity to scrimmage with boats from the German Junior National Team. She will be in Germany this month for ten days from July 12 to July 22.

Says Shannon: “I am really excited to have been given the opportunity to practice overseas, and to create lasting friendships with other rowers from around the country. I’d like to thank all of my coaches as well as my teammates for supporting me through the selection process!”
Although Shannon emphasizes her being given the opportunity, the Row New York family knows how hard she’s worked to earn this spot. We congratulate her not only on her win but also on having the dedication and work ethic to achieve it.
