On Saturday, Row New York put eight crews on the waters of the Anacostia River in Washington, D.C. for the 2012 Capital Sprints Regatta. Despite the blistering July heat, our rowers put forth the effort and tenacity to distinguish themselves. Powering through 1,000 meters in 5:03 and taking first place in their event’s final was our novice 8+ boat. Our rowers also took first and second places in the women’s novice 1x final, with times of 6:59 and 7:15.

Our novice 4+ boats took second and third in their event against two other crews, with times of 4:15 and 4:41, respectively. In the junior 4+ final, two of our boats battled each other for third place, clocking in within a second of each other at 5:18.26 and 5:18.81, coming in third and fourth behind two other crews. Row New York came in sixth in the women’s open 8+ event, with a time of 5:00.56.

There are more details on the races this past weekend to come, so stay tuned to our blog!
