December 1 marked another key day in Row New York’s expansion as we opened a second office suite at our Queens headquarters. After more than five years in one suite, we are taking over second floor accommodations in our Long Island City building that will house our academic sessions. The expansion to Suite 201 is part of a wave of adjustments we have made following our addition of rowing programming at Manhattan’s Peter Jay Sharp Boathouse.

The addition of Suite 201 is good news to the many rowers for whom our Queens office is their after-school destination. The new room is spacious and has an abundance of natural light from large south-facing windows looking out on the neighborhood. While it currently hosts our middle school, novice, and varsity rowers for academics, coming months may find parents and guardians there for meetings and rowers there for test prep and workshops on such topics as reproductive health and sports nutrition. Row New York is also enthusiastic about the positive health effects of walking up and down stairs!

Our staff appreciates the move as well. With more space upstairs for academics sessions, our growing group of personnel will have more office space downstairs. Since taking over programming at the Peter Jay Sharp Boathouse, we have hired coaches and assistants for our new youth teams along with a corporate relations professional for our corporate teambuilding program.

With our continued expansion, we look forward to serving even more youth from around the city in 2013 and years to come.
