Yesterday, Row New York hosted the 3rd annual Middle School Super Sprints at the World’s Fair Boathouse in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.  Each year the event honors the efforts of our youngest athletes with a 500 meter race against invited teams and a mixer for all.

This year, middle schoolers from Row New York Queens, Row New York Manhattan, Greenwich Water Club, and Port Washington Rowing competed for gold, silver, and bronze medals in two events: girls 8+ and boys 8+. To encourage sportsmanship and camaraderie, each rower received a colored “I’M A SUPER SPRINTER” bracelet that he or she had to exchange at least once throughout the event.

Staff in blinding neon shirts organized, launched, and raced approximately 130 athletes! After each race, rowers exchanged bracelets, got to know each other, received medals, and ate pizza.

Congratulations to all the athletes!
