Unlike most other sports, rowing can be learned at any age and fitness level! Taking an introductory class with Row New York is a great way to get fit, have fun, and enjoy the beauty of the river against the backdrop of the city. It’s a truly unique experience! Learn to Row classes take place in the spring, summer, and fall at the Peter Jay Sharp Boathouse on the Harlem River in Northern Manhattan.

Level 2 – Learn-to-Row 2 picks up where Learn-to-Row 1 leaves off. Participants will continue to enhance their rowing technique and boat moving skills in this 8-session course through consistent water time in stable barges. The majority of the time will be spent increasing focus on working together, developing rhythm, and building power to move the boat as efficiently as possible. All classes take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30pm – 8:00pm.

After completing Learn-to-Row 2, participants will have the opportunity to continue rowing with our Recreational Masters program!
The prerequisite for this course is our Learn-to-Row 1 program.

Registration – Terms and Conditions
Please wear clothing that you can get wet or dirty, and keep in mind that form-fitting clothing, like spandex or yoga pants, are much less likely to get in the way during rowing. We row on the water in all weather, even rain. Weather exceptions include thunder and lightning or severe wind, in which case we bring the training indoors to the rowing machine. On-water classes are not rescheduled due to weather.
Since the skills you learn in rowing are cumulative, it is important that you make every effort to come to every class. Note that we do not offer make-up classes. If fewer than ten people register for a particular class, the class will be canceled and participants will be invited to attend a different session. If registrants are not available for a future class, a refund will be issued.
A service fee of $50 will apply to all other refunds granted more than two weeks prior to the start of a session. If a registrant withdraws less than two weeks before class starts and we cannot fill your spot, a refund will not be granted.
