Competitive Summer Racing Program Now Open

Rowers in our competitive summer program learn what is necessary to reach collegiate and national level competition. This summerlong specialized camp will challenge participants to grow their fitness, their technical ability, their mental toughness, and their ability to work with others on a team. Athletes will be provided exposure to variety of racing opportunities including Club Nationals and Canadian Henley, coaching feedback, and rowing experience. Candidates will be accepted into program on rolling basis.

Goals
1) Participants make strides in their rowing, learn what is necessary to reach collegiate and national level competition
2) Challenge participants to grow their fitness, their technical ability, their mental toughness, and their ability to work with others on a team
3) Provide exposure to variety of racing opportunities, coaching feedback, and rowing experience.

Schedule & Cost
— June 18 – August 12, 2018
— Monday – Friday: 6:30am – 8:00am
— Saturday: 7:00am – 9:00am
— There will be occasional supplemental practices sessions held in the afternoons through the Summer, to be scheduled based on participants availability.
— Total cost: $2,000

Race dates
— July 11 – July 15: Club National Championships (participation tentative based on selection), Camden, NJ
— July 21: Philadelphia Youth Regatta, Philadelphia, PA
— August 7 – 12: Canadian Henley Regatta (participation tentative based on selection), St. Catherine’s, ON

Age/experience guidelines
— High school sophomore, junior, and seniors who were born in 2000 to 2002 and have at least 1 full year of sweep or sculling experience should apply, and will be in the U19 category.
— High school freshmen and sophomores born in 2002 or 2003 with at least 1 racing season of sweep or sculling experience should apply, and will be in the U17 category.

Meeting the below guidelines does not guarantee acceptance into the program, and those who do not meet the below guidelines but believe they are still a good fit for the program should apply.
— U19 Men – 6:45; Ltwt (150lb max) – 6:55
— U17 Men – 7:00; Ltwt (150lb max) – 7:10
— U19 Women – 7:45; Ltwt (130lb max) – 7:55
— U17 Women – 8:05; Ltwt (130lb max) – 8:15
