Betsy Yang is a RNY Alumna who wanted to share a little about her time with us. She graduated from the High School of American Studies at Lehman College in June and is now headed off to college. Enjoy her video and read what she had to say below!

There is something about being on a boat with your teammates, practicing day after day, that helps you discover both an escape and a place of belonging. It is a feeling that I would not trade for anything in the world.  Row New York has helped me get through a lot. They provided me and my teammates with the resources and support that allowed us to come in third last year in the Women’s Varsity 8+ at the New York State Championships and sixth this year. We even had the opportunity to race in one of the largest regattas in the world, the famed Head of the Charles Regatta!

I want to thank my teammates because they have truly been there for me whenever I needed them. It has not really sunk in yet that I have graduated high school and that I am now a Row New York Alumna. However, I am very excited for my first semester at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. I know that whenever I am feeling homesick or doubting myself my teammates will be there for me.

Good luck with all your endeavors, Betsy, and stay in touch!
