National Learn To Row Day

Summer is here, the weather is great and it’s time to try something you’ve never attempted before: rowing.

Join us for National Learn to Row day on June 3rd, 2017, for a totally free event, and learn the basics of a sport that will stay with you for a lifetime. We’ll introduce you to basic rowing techniques and get you out on the water.

Bonus: explore our beautiful boathouses on tours being offered throughout the day. You can choose from two of our boathouse locations: the Meadow Lake Boathouse in Queens and the Peter Jay Sharp Boathouse in Manhattan. Our Queens boathouse invites any person with a disability to join us for adaptive rowing sessions.

Those interested in participating can simply stop by either of our boathouses for this family-friendly event at the following times for land-based and water-based rowing sessions and boathouse tours:

Peter Jay Sharp Boathouse, Manhattan
— Learn-to-Row sessions run from 10am – 1pm (sessions that include on-water introductions run about 60-80 minutes. Anyone will have the opportunity to learn to row on the ergs throughout the day).
— Note: On water experiences for people 14 and up with signed waiver.

World’s Fair Boathouse, Queens
— Learn-to-Row sessions run from: 12noon – 3pm (sessions that include on-water introductions run about 60-80 minutes. Anyone will have the opportunity to learn to row on the ergs throughout the day).
— Notes: On water experiences for people 14 and up with signed waiver; individuals with disabilities welcome!

For a more comfortable day…
Please consider wearing clothing that you can get wet or dirty, and keep in mind that form-fitting clothing, like spandex or yoga pants, are much less likely to get in the way during rowing. Please also bring water!
