After an in-depth search process, we are ecstatic to announce the newest member of the Row New York family, Dahmein McFadden, Chief Program Officer. As a member of the leadership team, Dahmein will oversee all of our rowing programs.
Dahmein could not be more excited to join the T.E.A.M. at Row New York. Dahmein is a firm believer in his “T.E.A.M.”: Together Everyone Achieves More. Having served in the US Armed Services, Dahmein values everyone he comes into contact with and enjoys working with everyone to create a dynamic and energetic T.E.A.M. Dahmein developed his passion for Youth and Community Development at the age of 17 working as a Summer Youth Employee in East Harlem. What started as a summer job became a life-long pursuit. After graduating high school, Dahmein went on to serve his country while getting his Bachelors from UCLA. Dahmein would later go on to earn his Masters in Conflict Resolution from Teacher’s College.
Dahmein returned to Harlem after graduating from UCLA to once again pursue his passion for Youth Development. Over the next few years, Dahmein gradually took on roles that gave him more and more responsibility working at nonprofits across the city. In 2007 Dahmein began working at Harlem Children’s Zone.
Dahmein and his wife Michelle have been married for over 20 years, and together they have two children- Victoria (14) and Marcus (12). When he is not at work, he can usually be found hanging out with his family, cooking, taking pictures, looking for a good sneaker deal, playing video games or just having fun. Family and friends mean the world to Dahmein, and he would do anything for the people that he loves.
Dahmein thinks he is the reincarnation of Peter Pan because he lives life and doesn’t let life live him.
Dahmein has been excited about joining the T.E.A.M. at Row New York since his first interview. He can tell that the whole group at Row New York is filled with passion, excitement, and energy. Even though he has absolutely no idea how to row, he looks forward to bringing his passion for youth development to the incredible T.E.A.M. at Row New York.
