RNY was honored to host the Wounded Warrior Project at Learn to Row yesterday!

Six awesome and enthusiastic participants joined us for an afternoon at the World’s Fair boathouse on Meadow Lake in Queens. After getting on the ergs and learning the basics, the warriors competed in a close 250-meter race. Then it was onto the lake, where they boarded a barge to practice with oars and get a feel for rowing out on the water.

On the barge, about to push off.

Assistant Coach Megan Nizza noted proudly, “They really picked up on the strokes quickly and got into the rhythm working together as a team.” Thankfully, the rain held off for the day and made for a great event!

Check out our Facebook album from that afternoon. You can learn more about Wounded Warrior Project and their programs on their website. Thanks so much to the Warriors for coming out and spending the day with RNY!
