This week, Row New York’s indoor program with the Initiative for Women with Disabilities (IWD) started up for the winter season. RNY coaches Carol Quijada, Megan Nizza, and Alessandra Simeone are leading this season’s program, filled with strength training, stretching, and plenty of erging.

“Our first week of the IWD six-week program for young women started with some sweat, lots of smiles, and great success!” said Coach Megan Nizza. Many young women were returning from last year’s program, some were new, and all were very excited to start the new year logging meters on the erg.  Coaches led three stations that the ladies rotated through; one discussing our goals for the next six weeks, one completing complementary erg exercises with weights, and one perfecting our strokes on the erg.

The level of enthusiasm present at this first session is sure to remain throughout the next few weeks as participants continue to grow and have fun with indoor rowing.  Coaches hope to see some of the young women compete at the World Indoor Rowing Championships this year at CRASH Bs!
