March has officially arrived and with it comes training season. Not just for our student-athletes, but also the brave souls who have opted to run 13.1 miles for Row New York and fundraise $1,500 for our programs. No small feat! Today we get to know Owen Traynor and Jack Carlson, two members of our United Airlines NYC Half Marathon team. Read on to see what songs keep them going through the long miles, the routes they like to run, and just how much they love Row New York.

PS, help these guys out by stopping by their CrowdRise page and making a donation towards their $1,500 goal!

Why are you running for Row New York?
Row New York is an amazing organization that is changing lives. If I can help Row New York and give myself a reason to work out, it’s a double whammy.

What’s your favorite song to train with?
Gloria by Laura Branigan and Hey Ma by Cam’ron. (solid choices, Jack!)

The best place to go running in the city?
Battery Park.

Is this your first 1/2 marathon? Have you ran any other half or full marathons?
I hadn’t worked out since May, when I heard I hadn’t made the Olympic team. But I ran a half marathon on zero training with a friend a few days after signing up, just to see what my time would be and whether or not I’d have a heart attack. I lived.

Anything else we should know?
I hate running, so I must really love Row New York!

A big thank you to Jack and Owen for showing Row New York love with 13.1 miles of running!
