Kassandra started at Row New York on our middle school team. She is currently our marketing and communications intern.

Hi everyone! My name is Kassandra and I’m currently Row New York’s marketing and communications intern.

I rowed for Row New York since middle school. I absolutely loved rowing! I made many amazing friendships and got to experience many things that I would not have otherwise. I met people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. My first job was a summer camp leader and tutor for Row New York when I was a high school sophomore. I went on college tours and met college students, which made college less of a dream and more of a plan. I raced all over the Northeast in all sorts of weather. In fact, I was in the last race before hurricane Sandy hit. It was only drizzling but it was really windy. I remember a different time, when I capsized in frigid water, right in front of all the parents. They were terrified but my boatmates and I were just embarrassed and cold. I love Row New York’s people and mission so much that I came back!

As a part of the marketing and communications team, I get to know a little of everything that’s going on at Row New York. My job is really fun because I get to attend events and meet all the people the organization serves. I’ve learned some basics of using wordpress, blogging and taking good photos. I’ve practiced my time management, organization, and social networking skills. I’m looking forward to this summer, when I will be working full time and will have a chance to learn and do much more.

I attend Temple University where I’m studying business and economics. I’m lucky enough to be able to go to school in Philadelphia for part of the week while I work in New York for the rest of it. My favorite places in Philly are the Schuylkill River and Gran Caffe L’Aquila (best gelato ever).

It’s been a great journey with Row New York so far and I’m super excited about this new internship!
