This weekend saw Row New York traveling to Camden, NJ to race on the Cooper River. All four high school squads were in attendance making our student-athlete total 105!

The Cooper River was calm on Sunday, which led to clean rowing for our Novice and Varsity crews. The day was led off by our novice 8+ and novice 4+ who had very solid rows, showing good progress since our last regatta, two weeks ago. The novice 8+ raced a fast and competitive race, eventually falling back to finish 4th. In the 4+, the crew raced a tough and gritty race and placed 3rd. The coaches were proud of their performances and excited how far they had come in just a few weeks. We are all looking forward to how they progress over the last two races.

On the varsity side, the team had to deal with a long regatta day. The novices raced at 9:30 in the morning, but the last varsity 8s did not race until 5:10 in the afternoon. The team did well staying in the shade and laying down priming their bodies before their competition. The varsity 4+ began the afternoon with a very competitive race. They executed their race plan exactly and were able to win the small battles by pushing a boat out of their 2 seat throughout the race to end up six seconds ahead for a second place result. The second varsity 4+, placed 4th in a hotly contested race. In the JV 8+ A, the crew composed themselves after being at the venue for hours upon hours and rowed a fast race, finishing in 4th and understanding exactly what they need to do to improve moving into next week. In the JV 8+ B, the crew finished 4th and improved greatly from their performance two weeks ago. The JV boats are building speed each day and the coaches are excited to see their results and their performances this coming weekend at LI Champs.

We hope to see you there!
