World’s Fair Boathouse in Queens

  • Queens Boathouse

Built for the 1939 World’s Fair, this boathouse is where Row New York launched in 2002. Half of our year-round athletic and academic activities take place here, in addition to all our para-rowing programs. This boathouse sits on New York City’s largest lake, at 93 acres, and underwent a major renovation in 2011.

30 Meadow Lake Trail
Flushing Meadows Corona Park

Flushing, NY

Take the 7 train to the Mets-Willets station (between the 111th and Main St. stops).
Get off the train and go downstairs one level. Follow the signs for the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Walk through the turnstiles towards the MTA booth. Turn left at the MTA booth. Go down the small flight of stairs – DO NOT go to the street level. You will see a wooden boardwalk on your left.

Walk up the wooden boardwalk as it joins with a larger boardwalk. Continue straight and head downhill (Citi Field will be BEHIND you as you walk down the big ramp). At the end of the ramp, turn to the left, walking by the tennis courts until you come to Perimeter Road.

This is where Row New York vans pick up athletes in its ERA and PREP Programs. Row New York does not offer pick-up service for any other programs.

To walk to the boathouse from the ramp bottom (20-25 minute brisk walk), take the path heading southwest toward the Unisphere monument (there are buildings on your right side). At the Unisphere, you will find a roundabout, where you will make a left, heading clockwise. Exit left at the fourth path toward Queens Theatre in the Park. This path is a double promenade, flanked by trees.

Continue past the theater, and cross over the Long Island Expressway (LIE) on the pedestrian bridge.

Once you have crossed the LIE, bear left and head to the left side of Meadow Lake, following the shore for about 500 meters until you come to our boathouse–a large brick building.

Take the E, F, R, or M train to the 71st Ave./Forest Hills station.
Take the exit to 71st Ave. and 108th St. (very important)
Walk up 108th St. away from Queens Blvd. and make a right onto Harry Van Arsdale, Jr. Ave.
Walk several avenue blocks, crossing over the Grand Central Parkway. You will then see Meadow Lake on your left.
Cross into the park (carefully!) and head toward the path along the lake and bear to the right of the lake, walking another half mile.
The boathouse is a large brick building right on the lake.

Long Island Expressway to Exit 22 A-E.
Take off ramp for 678 – Van Wyck Expy South towards JFK Airport.
Stay in the right lane and take the first exit on 678 South. Exit 11 on right to Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.
Go into the park and make the first right at the stop sign.
Turn right at the stop sign and follow the road around into parking lot. The boathouse is on the southwest corner of the parking lot.

Note: If taking Access-a-Ride to the Queens boathouse, please request “Parks—the Boathouse at Flushing Meadows.”
