COMPETITIVE ROWING – GIRLS

competitive_girls_main_img

Our competitive program for high school girls offers six days a week of intensive athletic training and comprehensive academic support. Rowers train on the same kinds of equipment used by Olympic athletes. Outdoor practice is based out of the public boathouse on Meadow Lake in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Winter training takes place indoors at the YMCA and at our facility in Long Island City.

Even girls who have never rowed before are welcome to try out for the team. Tryouts for our year-round program take place in September and February. Rowers begin on our novice team and train with and compete against other first-year rowers. At the end of the school year, they move to the varsity team and begin an intensive training regimen that prepares them for regional competition and collegiate rowing.

The girls in our program hail from over a dozen high schools throughout New York City, but they come together each day to row, have fun, and make boats go fast!
