Program Synopsis

Row New York’s Pre-competitive Rowing Exposure Program (P.R.E.P.) Fall Program is for rising 6th-, 7th-, and 8th-grade girls with and without rowing experience. Beginners will learn the basics of rowing on the rowing machines and in boats on the water. It’s a great opportunity to learn a unique sport, meet new friends, and spend the summer mornings outside! No experience is necessary, and the rowers do not need to know how to swim.

Registration & Cost

Row New York has a payment policy that gradually increases the percent of participation cost that we expect families to pay based on their income. For the Summer 2011 season, we are going by your adjusted gross income (line 37) for your 2010 tax form 1040. Row New York does not require income documentation for its middle-school families, but reserves the right to request it from any family for any reason. Please note, however, that if your child stays in the program until high school, we may request documentation then.

For the Summer 2011 season, we are going by your adjusted gross income (line 37) for your 2009 tax form 1040. Summer Experienced Program is for middle-school girls, in rising grades 7 and 8, who have completed one or more seasons at Row New York. The middle-schoolers will be taking their rowing skills to the next level and increasing their fitness in preparation for their first regatta and the high-school team.

You may only register if you have received permission from Director of Middle School Programs Jennie Trayes (jennie@rownewyork.org).

REGISTRATION

This keeps our roster as actual as possible. We apologize for the redundancy and appreciate your patience.

Like in the fall, Row New York has a payment policy that gradually increases the percent of participation cost that we expect families to pay based on their income. Row New York requires a copy of prior year tax returns and matching W-2s for all students who do not attend public school. Students who were enrolled in the fall should have already done this and therefore do not need to do this again unless they have transferred from a public school to a private school.

Row New York’s expenses amount to approximately $1000 per athlete in the winter season. The portion of this cost that families must pay depends on their income.
