Row New York empowers young people from New York City’s under-resourced communities to build strength, gain confidence, and pursue excellence through the unique sport of rowing.

Starting Small, Dreaming Big

Row New York was founded in 2002 with the belief that a sport that teaches the invaluable lessons of teamwork, tenacity, and commitment to self and to others should be available to the young people of New York City. We began with one borrowed boat and eight eager rowers. Today our program provides new opportunities for over 300 participants per year.

Success on the Water and in the Classroom

We help young people develop the skills, confidence and motivation to succeed, on and off the water:

100% of our graduates have gone on to college, and many have earned college scholarships for rowing and academics. Our team achieves outstanding rowing results, frequently winning medals against elite private schools.
